The results are in, and newcomer Diana Zirkelbach has claimed the Oscar Pool crown!
In general, the scores this year were exceptionally high, and whether that's indicative of a higher level of competition or a more predictable year is a matter for debate, but either way, there's no denying that 57 is both an extremely impressive score and an Oscar Pool record. Diana missed just two categories, Animated Short and Adapted Screenplay.
There wasn't much this year in the way of surprises. In fact, if you ignore the shorts, which are always something of a toss-up for most people, the biggest surprise of the evening was LOTR for Adapted Screenplay, and a realtively healthy 16 people still made that selection, trailing the favorite (Mystic River) by only three votes.
Thanks to everybody for making this the biggest Oscar Pool to date. Hopefully you had fun, and we'll drop you all a line come next year :-)
